Motorcycle gloves are part of the equipment a motorcyclist must have. They are also an indispensable tool to ensure your safety and comfort, especially when riding in winter. But to enjoy comfort, you need to choose the right pair. To do so, it is out of the question to overlook size. It is to be chosen according to the morphology of your hands. Fortunately, there are many tips to achieve this.

Measuring the palm circumference

If you want to know the size of your motorcycle gloves, simply measure the circumference of the palm of your hand. To do this, you must fold your hand slightly without clenching your fist. Then, take a tape measure or reel, not including your thumb measure. Ideally, you should do this on your strong hand. If you are for example right-handed, you should base your measurement on the size of your right hand or vice versa. It is probably larger than the other. You can easily find custom-made gloves at BMW Motorrad, a professional motorcycle equipment dealer.

Finding the right size based on finger length and hand width

You can also choose this second way, if you want to know the size of your gloves. Based on your stronger hand, take a ruler or a sewing tape measure. Measure the width of your hand without your thumb and the length of your middle finger. Then add the two values and divide by 2. The answer you would get is the size of your gloves. Be aware that the ideal remains to opt for the largest measure. For example, if your average is 8.5, you should choose the larger size, which is 9.

Bring your old gloves

You may want to buy a pair of motorcycle gloves but didn’t know or remember your size. The best solution is to use the size of your old gloves as a guide. Then, you just have to find the same one on the market. If your palm circumference is 15 to 17 cm, you should take size 5. If your palm size is 17 to 19 cm, you should take size 6. As for the 19 to 20 cm palm circumference, it corresponds to size 7 /S. These are the sizes 8/M, 9/L, 10/XL, 11/XXL which are made for people with a hand size between respectively 20 to 22, 22 to 24, 24 to 26 and 26 to 28 cm.
